What are ‘Spiritual Gifts’?
The God-given capacity of every Christian to contribute towards the building
up of the spiritual communities we call church (1 Corinthians 12:4-6, 12-14).
Can I choose my Spiritual Gifts?
The Holy Spirit decides which gifts we have, based on the needs of the
church
community as it takes part in God’s mission (1 Corinthians 12:11).
What Spiritual Gifts do I have?
Gifts need to be discerned, recognised and affirmed.
Use the Spiritual Gifts Survey to help you kickstart this
process.
Are my Spiritual Gift(s) set for life?
As we grow and mature in our relationship with God, and as the context in
which we serve Him changes, the Spirit will also work to develop and adapt
our gifting.
What if I don’t have a gift?
Every person belonging to a spiritual community has a unique gift, or mix of
gifts, that may contribute to God’s mission in a unique way. Someone
else cannot step in and fill the same role in the same way as another
because the combination of relationship one may have with God and others
cannot be exactly replicated by another.
Spiritual Gifts Survey Instructions:
- The survey should take about 20 minutes to complete.
- Your gift combination will automatically formulate as you complete the
survey.
- Scale your response appropriately between “never” (the statement does
not describe you at all) to “always” (the statement describes you
perfectly).
- Remember that this is a tool written by people, not by God. It will
provide you with an approximation of what your spiritual gifts might be. Your
results will need affirmation and confirmation from others. Further
exploration is always needed as you seek to understand how God has
blessed you and how to use that blessing in the service of others.
- Remember that discovering and developing your gifts remains a lifelong
experience.
